The annual Healthcare Heroes Awards program recognizes excellence, promotes innovation and honors the efforts of individuals and organizations making a significant impact on the quality of health care in New Jersey. Nominations are reviewed by a panel of independent judges and selected for recognition in 12 categories based on their significant impact on the health care industry.
“Eversight is honored to be recognized as a 2021 Healthcare Hero alongside some of New Jersey’s most distinguished health care organizations and professionals,” said Jennifer Rosenblatt, Eversight philanthropy director. “Our local health care community has done tremendous work throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond, and we are grateful to all our fellow honorees for their work to heal and protect our community.”
Eversight is recognized in the Innovation Hero – Organization category for its ongoing research into the presence of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, in human eye tissue. Initial findings published in the scientific journal, The Ocular Surface, demonstrated the presence of SARS-CoV-2 in ocular tissues that were recovered from donors who died of COVID-19. This ongoing study affirms the importance of evaluating the latest science to protect the precious gift of sight for patients in need of life-changing corneal transplants.
“We are proud of Eversight’s contributions to research and innovation in ophthalmology and eye banking,” Rosenblatt said. “We look forward to continuing to shape the future of health care in New Jersey and beyond, together with our fellow NJBIZ Healthcare Heroes and our partners in vision worldwide.”
NJBIZ will recognize honorees at a virtual awards program 8:30-10:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday, Aug. 24. Register to attend today in support of Eversight and all 2021 Healthcare Heroes.
