CLARK, N.J., July 16, 2021 — The Fund for the New Jersey Blind awarded Eversight a $4,000 grant for the purchase of medical recovery supplies that will enable 21 New Jersey donors to give the gift of sight.
Eversight’s Donation Support Center works 24/7 with donor families through who have recently lost a loved one, facilitating their selfless decision to donate eye tissue for corneal transplantation or vision research. Eversight clinical technicians recover donated tissue for local cornea surgeons and their patients, who eagerly await a second chance at sight.
Every donation requires a kit of specialty medical supplies that cannot be reused, so a unique kit must be purchased for each recovery. Each recovery kit can result in two eye tissues for transplantation. Through this grant, the Fund for the New Jersey Blind has provided the opportunity for up to 42 transplant recipients to have their sight restored.
The Fund for the New Jersey Blind is a steadfast supporter of Eversight in New Jersey, generously contributing to its life-changing work since 2008.
“Eversight is proud to continue working with the Fund for the New Jersey Blind to achieve our mutual mission to restore sight and prevent blindness,” said Jennifer Rosenblatt, Eversight Philanthropy Director. “We look forward to continued collaboration that ensures all those in need of a sight-saving surgery in New Jersey have access to one.”
