Uri S. Soiberman, M.D., is an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute. Dr. Soiberman specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of corneal and anterior segment diseases, including corneal transplants, cataract surgery and intraocular lens complications. He is particularly interested in keratoconus and novel treatments for this disease; this disease is Dr. Soiberman's primary research focus. He is also actively studying the application of nanomedicine in the field of cornea.

Dr. Soiberman received his medical degree from the Sackler Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, Israel. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Tel Aviv Medical Center, and his research and clinical fellowships in the field of cornea, cataract and external disease at the Wilmer Eye Institute.

Daniel Montenegro, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical management of cataract as well as corneal and external diseases. Dr. Montenegro grew up in Venezuela and is fluent in both Spanish and English. He completed his college education at Barry University in Miami, FL and went on to complete 3 years of research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He completed his medical education and graduated with summa cum laude honors at the Universidad Central del Caribe in Puerto Rico. He was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society for his academic achievements.

After medical school, he completed his ophthalmology training at the Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, MI. He then went on to pursue a cornea and external diseases fellowship at the Dean McGee Eye Institute in Oklahoma City, OK.

Before joining Eye Centers of South Florida, he was a faculty member at the Kresge Eye Institute and the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center. He served as a mentor for future generations of ophthalmologists and provided care for our country’s Veterans. He directed a busy cornea service providing medical and surgical care for corneal diseases including corneal dystrophies, corneal ectasias (i.e. keratoconus), corneal ulcers, corneal scars, ocular surface tumors and dry eyes.
Dr. Montenegro performs full-thickness, partial thickness, and endothelial keratoplasty corneal transplants. He also has a strong interest in cataract refractive surgery and evolving intraocular lens implant technologies.

Dr. Montenegro chose ophthalmology as his profession because he embraces the complexity of the eye and its relationship with your health. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

During his free time, Dr. Montenegro enjoys reading books, exercising and spending time with his wife Ana Carolina and two children, Daniel and Clara.

Kamran Riaz, MD, is a clinical associate professor at the Dean McGee Eye Institute at the University of Oklahoma. His clinical and surgical practices focus on cornea, external disease, anterior segment, cataract and refractive surgery.

Dr. Riaz’s career in academic ophthalmology began at the University of Chicago where he restarted the refractive surgery service, inaugurated a region-wide optics course and brought many new surgical procedures to the department, including femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery, “dropless cataract surgery,” micro-invasive glaucoma surgery and advanced technology IOL surgery.

Dr. Riaz has a regional referral base at Dean McGee Eye Institute for managing a spectrum of conditions, particularly focusing on managing complications from cataract surgery, secondary IOL surgery and complex corneal surgery. He has authored more than 45 publications and 60 presentations at national and international ophthalmology meetings, been an invited lecturer and surgical wet-lab instructor at several conferences, as well as an invited visiting professor, both nationally and internationally, at multiple academic institutions. Dr. Riaz holds several leadership positions, including serving on the ASCRS Young Eye Surgeon (YES) Clinical Committee.

Dr. Riaz has a passion for resident and fellow education, especially in optics and refractive surgery. He teaches national board review courses, serves as an optics section editor for the most popular website for ophthalmology exam preparation among trainees, and is on the editorial committee for the BCSC Optics textbook. He is the Chief Editor for a forthcoming Optics textbook, Optics for the New Millennium.

He and his wife, Sanaa, also a physician, are blessed with three amazing children.

Ahmed Omar, MD, PhD, joined the cornea service at University Hospitals Eye Institute in Cleveland in May 2019. He is a graduate of Assiut Medical School, completed his internship and ophthalmology residency at Assiut University Hospitals in Egypt, and joined their faculty in 2008.

On scholarship from the Egyptian government, Dr. Omar joined Mayo Clinic in 2011 to conduct his PhD research and then a medical retina fellowship at Harvard Medical School. He completed a cornea, refractive and external disease fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 2016 and moved back to Egypt to share his cornea knowledge and experience with his patients and colleagues.

In 2017, Dr. Omar helped establish an Egyptian government-sponsored program to provide corneal transplants for underprivileged Egyptians at Assiut University Hospitals. He taught many of his colleagues to do corneal transplants individually so they can continue to provide the same level of care when he returned to the United States in 2019.

Divya Srikumaran, MD, is an associate professor of ophthalmology in the Division of Cornea, Cataract and External Disease at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute. She studied at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and completed her ophthalmology residency and cornea fellowship training at the Wilmer Eye Institute. Dr. Srikumaran specializes in the management of anterior segment and corneal disorders and published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals. Her research is focused on the assessment of corneal transplant outcomes and predictors for receiving keratoplasty through big data sources, including administrative claims data and in collaboration with eye banks. Dr. Srikumaran currently serves as vice chair of education at the Wilmer Eye Institute and studies best practices to support doctors in training. Blending her passion for both education and expertise in corneal surgery, Dr. Srikumaran has also studied barriers to adoption of advanced keratoplasty procedures in the U.S. and abroad.

Steven A. Greenstein, MD, practices at the Cornea and Laser Eye Institute and is a clinical assistant professor at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He completed a cornea, refractive and external disease fellowship at Massachusetts Eye and Ear at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Greenstein graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, completed an internal medicine internship and ophthalmology residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. His research is focused on keratoconus and corneal cross-linking, and he contributes to the field through peer-reviewed publications, presentations and textbook contributions. Dr. Greenstein is a team ophthalmologist for the New York Jets football team and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Refractive Surgery Alliance Society, Cornea Society and the Society of Heed Fellows.

Vishal Jhanji, MD, is a professor of ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Jhanji completed his ophthalmology training at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India, and fellowship at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, University of Melbourne, Australia. He worked as an associate professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 2017, Dr. Jhanji joined the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he is as a professor and member of the cornea, cataract and external disease services, refractive surgery service, clinical co-director of the Funderburgh Cornea Regeneration Project and associate medical director of the Charles T. Campbell Eye Microbiology Lab.

Parag A. Majmudar, MD, is a fellowship-trained corneal and refractive surgery specialist and a practicing physician at Chicago Cornea Consultants. Dr. Majmudar is an active participant in clinical research activities and is a highly regarded lecturer and instructor on the subjects of corneal and refractive surgery. He serves as an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and formerly co-directed the cornea fellowship at Rush University in Chicago.

Lorenzo Cervantes, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and a fellowship-trained specialist in cornea, external disease, cataract and refractive surgery.

Dr. Cervantes received his Medical Degree, cum laude, from the Downstate Medical Center – College of Medicine at the State University of New York, where he was elected a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the North Shore/LIJ Health System in New York, where he also served as chief resident. He completed a fellowship in cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery at the Eye and Ear Institute of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

His clinical practice interests include the medical and surgical management of corneal diseases, small incision and complex cataract surgery, repair of intraocular lenses, and refractive surgery, including LASIK. He is experienced in the most advanced corneal transplant procedures, including Descemet’s membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK), Descemet’s stripping endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK), deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK), and use of the Boston Keratoprosthesis. Dr. Cervantes is an experienced and accomplished surgeon, having performed several thousand intraocular procedures and was the first surgeon to perform DMEK for the treatment of corneal edema in Connecticut in March 2015.

Dr. Cervantes is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians, the New England Ophthalmological Society, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the Cornea Society, the Paton Society, and the Eye Bank Association of America. He currently serves as the Medical Director of Eversight and regularly teaches other surgeons advanced techniques in corneal transplantation and cataract surgery. On the subject of cornea, he has authored several textbook chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles, and has lectured both at national and international meetings.

In October 2017, Dr. Cervantes joined Joseph Sokol, MD, at Connecticut Eye Specialists in Shelton, N.J. to help provide some of the most up-to-date cornea and cataract care in the region. Most recently, he was appointed to the Board of Directors at Eversight. When not practicing medicine, Dr. Cervantes enjoys golfing, running, snowboarding, and watching football games with his family.

Collin M. Ross is Vice President of Global Development for Eversight, and is passionate about promoting eye donation and cornea transplantation around the world. Over his 20-year career, Ross has been privileged to work with dedicated physicians and transplant professionals in many countries to combat corneal blindness through transplantation, research, and medical education. Most recently, he led the development of a national network for eye banking and cornea donation in Pakistan. Ross holds the Certified Eye Bank Technician (CEBT) credential from the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA), a master of public management degree in international security and economic policy from the University of Maryland, and a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Michigan State University.

Erik Hellier is the Global Development Director at Eversight. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Akron and an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University. He has been in eye banking for more than 15 years and joined Eversight upon affiliation with the Cleveland Eye Bank in 2012. For the past eight years, Hellier has served as a member of the Eversight Global Development team and spent three years in South Korea overseeing the development of Eversight’s first international location in Seoul. He has also worked to help develop sustainable eye banking infrastructure in Pakistan with facilities already opened in Islamabad and Karachi. Additionally, Hellier has served on the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) Accreditation Board since 2012 and has been a Certified Eye Bank Technician (CEBT) since 2006.
