CHICAGO, Aug. 2, 2021 — The Wheaton Lions Club recently awarded Eversight a generous grant in the amount of $3,000 for continued operations in Illinois. Including this gift, Wheaton Lions have given more than $20,000 in philanthropic support to Eversight over the years.
Lions Clubs International has strong roots in Illinois as it was founded in Chicago in 1917. The Wheaton Lions Club was established soon after in 1923, and presented a check to Eversight at their award luncheon in June.
“The Wheaton Lions’ generous gift serves as testimony to Eversight’s strong partnership with Lions Clubs across the state of Illinois,” said Marta Garczarczyk, Philanthropy Director, Eversight. “We are so thankful to the Wheaton Lions for their continued commitment to fulfilling our shared mission to restore sight and prevent blindness through the healing power of donation, transplantation and research.”
The mission of Lions Clubs across around the world is to prevent avoidable blindness and improve quality of life for people who are blind and visually impaired. As strong advocates for restoring the gift of sight, Lions Clubs have supported Eversight with more than $140,000 annually.
Eversight was also recently named an Illinois Lions Clubs state project, securing our ongoing partnership across the state for years to come.
