$25,000 helps restore eyesight for under- or uninsured patients

Grant Supports Sight Restoration for Connecticut Patients in Need

ANN ARBOR, Mich. Dec. 17, 2019 — Eversight recently received a $25,000 grant from the Connecticut Eye Bank and Visual Research Foundation to help restore eyesight to under- or uninsured patients in Connecticut unable to afford the cost of a cornea transplant surgery.

In 2019, Eversight waived more than $40,000 in costs to provide corneal tissue for 32 patients in Connecticut who would have otherwise been unable to afford a transplant. The Foundation’s renewed support ensures that Eversight can continue assisting patients in Connecticut regardless of their financial situation.

“The Connecticut Eye Bank and Visual Research Foundation has been an ongoing partner and champion in Eversight’s work to create a world without blindness,” said Teresa Clark, Eversight Vice President of Philanthropy. “Their significant gift and ongoing commitment means we can continue to ensure Connecticut patients in need can receive renewed vision through cornea transplantation.”

Philanthropic support to its Gift of Sight program enables Eversight to fund hundreds of requests from surgeons, who are also asked to reduce their fees to minimize the financial burden of transplantation. Visit eversightvision.org/give to contribute to our sight-restoring work.
