A tribute from: Cari Hazelwood, Donor Daughter

My father was my hero. He was full of life and had a smile that would light up a room. He was a registered organ donor. Unfortunately he passed away after a very short battle with cancer. The cancer was in just about every organ. On top of that he received chemo the day before he passed making all of his organs unsuitable for donation. However, he was able to donate his corneas as they were not affected by the cancer or chemo. I’m so happy that after being my hero for 38 years he was able to be someone else’s hero after he passed. He gave someone the gift of sight. He is still a hero.
