Jose A. Nieves

A tribute from: Jason Nieves, Donor Son

A Man Loved by Many

Jose Nieves was born in Waukegan, IL, in February, 1959 to Manuel and Antonia Nieves. He was the middle child, with an older sister Maria and younger sister Jackie. He was a fun loving, active young man.

On March 17th, 1984, Jose (aka Tony) married Vicky Riley. He had 4 children: Jason (20), Robin (21), Antonia (18) and April (13). He was a proud grandpa of 3 beautiful grandchildren: Scotty (his pride and joy), Nyana and Desiree.

Tony had such a thirst for life. You could find him tinkering with his cars (he was the family mechanic), mowing the lawn, perfecting his house anytime of day throughout the year. He had the gift of making soEVERSIGHTody’s day with his vivid sense of humor and infectious smile.

Even though his life was cut short, he was still able to touch someone’s life (like he had done so many times while alive) by donating parts of himself to better or even save another’s life.

He will be forever missed, loved and never forgotten. The Nieves family is so proud that, in his passing, he was able to give the gift of sight to two people.
