CLEVELAND, April 13, 2023 – The Kennedy Family Fund, a component fund of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, has awarded Eversight a $2,500 grant to support sight-saving surgeries, vision research and surgeon education in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties in northeast Ohio.

“Corneal donation and transplantation are only a part of the solution to creating a world without blindness,” said Becky Harris, Philanthropy Director, Foundations & Corporations, Eversight. “With the Kennedy Family Fund’s gift and others like it, Eversight can provide tissue for transplants, advance ongoing research, support clinical education, purchase needed supplies and obtain technology for innovative online training. We are grateful for their help in making vision a reality in northeast Ohio.”

Eversight has also provided 592 tissues to Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana County residents in need of a sight-saving corneal transplants.

The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley helps philanthropists support the causes closest to their heart while connecting local residents to the resources they need for a better quality of life.

“At the core of the Community Foundation’s mission is building and pooling resources for the benefit of the Mahoning Valley,” said Shari Harrell, president of the Community Foundation. “We then work to connect funds under our umbrella like the Kennedy Family Fund with impactful projects in our community like the ones carried out by Eversight. We are proud to play a small part in Eversight’s work to restore sight and prevent blindness for the residents of the Valley.”
