The $350,000 grant is the largest single gift Eversight has ever received

Eversight awarded $350,000 grant from Edward N. & Della L. Thome Memorial Foundation

ANN ARBOR, Mich., Feb. 21, 2022 – In December, Eversight was awarded a $350,000 grant from the Edward N. & Della L. Thome Memorial Foundation, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee to support tissue recovery, transplantation, sight-saving research and surgeon education. This is the largest single gift Eversight has ever received.

Eversight is a network of community-based eye banks headquartered in Ann Arbor, Mich. that serves as the largest nonprofit provider of donated tissue for sight-restoring cornea transplants in the United States. In 2021, Eversight worked with 6,606 cornea tissue donor families to give the gift of sight to 8,495 cornea transplant recipients. The eye bank network also provided 2,956 tissues to researchers to find cures and treatments for blinding eye diseases, and 484 tissues for surgeon education and clinician training.

The Edward N. & Della L. Thome Memorial Foundation, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee was created in 2002 to advance the health of older adults through the support of direct service projects and medical research on diseases and disorders affecting older adults. Seventy-three percent of people suffering from blindness worldwide are over the age of 50, according to the Institution for the Prevention of Blindness.

"We are incredibly grateful for the remarkable support of the Edward N. & Della L. Thome Memorial Foundation,” said Teresa Clark, Vice President of Philanthropy, Eversight. “They remain a key partner in advancing our mission in countless ways. We look forward to continuing our important work to restore sight and prevent blindness thanks to their generous commitment.”
