CLARK, N.J., Feb. 7, 2022 — The Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation in 2021 awarded Eversight $50,000 to continue providing tissue for sight-saving transplants in Connecticut and support research projects.
In Connecticut in 2020, the foundation’s support of Eversight helped 180 people receive cornea transplants, 445 donors give the gift of sight, and 192 donors further vision research and innovations.
“Lions Clubs have been foundational and sustaining partners of Eversight’s work since our founding in 1947,” said Jennifer Rosenblatt, Philanthropy Director, Eversight. “In 2020, we were grateful to work with 278 Lions Clubs across our service areas to achieve our shared mission. We are grateful for our continued partnership with the Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation in this critical work to make vision a reality.”
The Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation was founded in 1953 by the Connecticut Council of Governors to fund solutions that fulfill the Lions’ mission to prevent avoidable blindness and improve quality of life for people who are blind and visually impaired.
“It is an honor and a pleasure to continue to support Eversight’s critical research into finding cures for blinding eye diseases,” said Alan Daninhirsch, Lion, Past Council Chairman of Multiple District 23 and Member of CLERF. “Our Foundation is dedicated to advancing research into cures for all forms of preventable blindness. We look forward to seeing the continued impact of Eversight’s important work.”
